Course Information
Description	Intended for Non STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) majors. Topics include introductory treatments of sets and logic, financial mathematics, probability and statistics with appropriate applications. Number sense, proportional reasoning, estimation, technology, and communication should be embedded throughout the course. Additional topics may be covered. This is a corequisite taken only with MATH 1332 in the same semester/ part of term.

The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer. Please refer to the syllabus for MATH 1332 for textbook information. Learning Outcomes	Upon successful completion of this course, students will: 1. Apply the language and notation of sets. 2. Determine the validity of an argument or statement and provide mathematical evidence. 3. Solve problems in mathematics of finance. 4. Demonstrate fundamental probability/counting techniques and apply those techniques to solve problems. 5. Interpret and analyze various representations of data. 6. Demonstrate the ability to choose and analyze mathematical models to solve problems from real-world settings, including, but not limited to, personal finance, health literacy, and civic engagement.
Core Objectives	* Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and/or visual communication. * Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing concepts and constructing solutions. * Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.

Grading Scale	This co-requisite section is given on a PASS/FAIL basis.   SD = Satisfactory (PASS) UD = Unsatisfactory (FAIL)
Determination of Final Grade	PASS/FAIL determination will be dependent mostly on your final grade in MATH 1332:   A,B, or C = SD D or F = UD   Students receiving a D or F in MATH 1332 may be given a passing score (SD) in this section if all of the developmental review assignments for each module are completed by the end of the semester with perfect scores.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies	This is an online co-requisite support section for students taking MATH 1332-71 who are not currently TSI compliant.   Instructions for fulfilling the required material for this support section are embedded within the main course material for MATH 1332-71.   All relevant information about this course will be communicated to you using your LSCPA email and via Blackboard. You should check your email daily, and regularly log in to Blackboard to check for any announcements you may have missed. Students should only use their LSCPA email for this course; any communications from personal email accounts (gmail,yahoo,etc.) may be ignored.
Attendance Policy	Since this is an online course and we will not be meeting in person, the rate and pace of attendance is left somewhat up to the student. It is the sole responsibility of the student to make sure that they are current and up to date in the material and to participate in all posted assignments and activities, and they are expected to do so out of their own desire to learn and succeed. The student's online participation will be observed to an extent, and for any borderline cases of assigning final grades, this record will be taken into consideration.

COVID 19 Information	The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
